Having recovered from the ordeal of having to have my picture taken with Phil Thompson, I spent Monday morning on a half day city tour which frequented Little India, Chinatown (including the main Buddhist temple in Singapore), the Colonial district (where the famous Raffles Hotel is located), the financial centre and the beautiful Botanical Gardens.

I have attached some pictures from this tour to peruse.

Following the half day city tour, I met up with Lingfei – Kewill's Asia Pacific Marketing Manager. Lingfei was excellent and showed me much more of the city both from a toursist and Singaporean perspective.

In the afternoon, after grabbing some lunch we headed to the Kewill office in Singapore to meet the rest of the Kewill team.

After the brief stop at the office, Lingfei and I headed out to Sentosa, an island just a few kilometres to the south of Singapore. Sentosa is basically one huge and impressive adventure playground for children and adults. Think of Disneyland and times it by 5! After visiting a number of shops for souvenirs, we had our photo taken with the Merlion – a mythical creature combining the head of a lion and the body of the fish, which is a key symbol of Singapore. We saw an amazing lights and firework show (called the 'Sounds of the Sea’) – which is held each evening and cost millions to setup.

Following the show we headed back towards the hotel and stopped off for a ‘hot pot’ dinner. Traditional Singapore ‘hot pot’ is a little different to the Lancashire variety. It consists of raw ingredients (meat, fish, rice, noodles, vegetables – all of which you choose from the menu) and a large bowl of boiling water from which you cook the ingredients.  Very tasty – although we struggled to eat all that we ordered!

Headed back to the hotel about 10:30 and arranged to meet with Lingfei mid-morning on Tuesday to visit Raffles.
