Today we drove across to Badlands National Park, still in South Dakota & did the scenic loop road. The scenery is amazing & can't really be described, it is a mixture of spires, ridges, canyons & prairie. We saw our first prairie dog town & they were everywhere, we spent ages watching them.

Another place we went to today was Wall Drug. We had managed to pick up a few tourist brochures & they all mentioned this Wall Drug, we had no idea what it was but thought it would be worth a look. What it is, is a block-sized shopping emporium, attracts up to 20,000 people on a hot summer day. It's full of
souvenirs, displays, memorabilia & shopping. It was started in 1931 when a couple bought the only drugstore in a town called Wall. A few years later the business still wasn't going well so on a hot summer day they put up a sign saying Free Ice Water. And it grew from there, they still have free ice water. Nowadays, it's as much a visitor attraction & museum as it is a store & has lots of free attractions.
