Continued our trip up the coast & called in to Cape Canaveral & found a little museum right next to the main gates for the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station which was a real gem & free to go in to. It was the Air Force Space & Missile Museum, was manned by volunteers who were all ex- military & used to work on Cape Canaveral when it was still operational as a launching site for missiles & space launches. The guy who spoke to us was on for a real chat & had worked on the base for 45 years, both as serving military & civilian, very interesting.

We went past the Kennedy Space Centre but didn't worry about going in as from the brochures they looked to have all the same stuff that we saw in Houston. We did stop & have a look at the viewing site for the space shuttle launches.

From there we went up to Daytona Beach & what can I say. You are allowed to drive on the beach here (we didn't) & the cars are parked for miles up the beach. It wasn't an overly hot day today so would hate to see it when it was. There were people everywhere & little stalls where you can buy snacks or hire umbrellas or sun lounges.

Next stop was the Daytona International Speedway, only made it with 5 minutes till closing but just before we got there the low tyre pressure alarm went off. Turns out we had a tech screw through the side wall of the tyre. Luckily, we were across the road from a Bridgestone place so went on there. Unfortunately it couldn't be fixed so we had to buy a new tyre, $185, but it could have been worse, we could have been out in the boondocks somewhere. So, decided to stay the night & do a tour in the morning of the speedway.
