We left New Orleans & went over the Pontchartrain Causeway, this was 24 miles long & when we first got on you couldn't see anything but water in front of you or on either side. Had a good run along the coast of Mississippi & Alabama, both of which are only about 70 miles across in the south. Had a night at Walmart just out of Pensacola, FL.

We were heading to Panama City Beach where we were catching up with friends of my niece. She spent some time in the area as an exchange student many years ago & still keeps in touch with her host family. They were kind enough to allow us to park the RV at their place & JoAnn also offered to show us around a lot of the local sites. We had 2 nights with JoAnn & Jimmy before heading further south & hopefully to warmer climates.

Since we left New Orleans it has been really cold, lovely sunny days but a bitterly cold wind that we swear is coming straight off snow. We have had jumpers & long pants on for the last couple of days & had to buy a doona like we did last year. The day we left New Orleans the temperature was only in the mid 40's, yesterday was mid 50's & today was in the 60's but the night time temperature was down as low as 35. This wasn't something we were expecting in Florida & apparently it's normally in the high 70's this time of year. Hopefully it will warm up a bit as we go further south.
