Boarded the ferry this morning to take us across to Port Bolivar, a 2.5 mile trip but saved us going back through Houston. The first part of the trip was very heavy industry, gas plants, oil plants & anything else they could put there.

The rest was along the Gulf of Mexico, very low lying & susceptible to flooding judging by the houses. They were all on stilts & those that weren't were built on high mounds but most were on stilts. There was also a high presence of large caravans or 5th wheelers, either under houses or on vacant blocks.

Decided to go through to New Orleans, had been warned by many people that security was a real issue in NO so decided to stay in a state park. It was only $18 a night & that was power, water & hot showers. It was only 8 miles from the ferry that would take us across the mighty Mississippi River.

Tonight is quite warm & the Mosquitos are something fierce, will have to buy some insect spray. Reminds us of home but the mossies are inside the RV
