Caught the greyhound bus down to San Ysidro, the final town in the US before crossing into Mexico. It was a simple matter of walking over a footbridge & we were in Tijuana - no checking of passports or anything, they obviously let anybody in. It certainly was an experience, the hassling started as soon as you cross the border. Taxis queued up wanting to give you a lift somewhere, then when you get to the shops they hassle you to come in & buy.
We couldn't believe how many pharmacies there were & they were hawking their wares, they had signs up for viagra & not sure what else they were selling. Every shop had one or two guys out the front trying to get you to go in.
After a few hours we had had enough so decided to head back to the border. Luckily we did as the line to cross was miles long. The cars were queued up 4 across & back for about a mile. The foot traffic was nearly as bad, ended up taking us 1 3/4 hours from when we got on the end of the line to when we passed through customs. There were just so many people wanting to cross & it was vastly different from when we crossed the border earlier in the day. It was also a very hot day & we were glad to be finally back across the border.

Toolate now but apparently the secret to returning to the Us from Mexico is get on a local bus or take one of the cycle taxis. They jump the queue and get you through pronto
