Drove down the coast & stopped at a few places to have a look. The beaches are getting nicer at last. While the coastal scenery has been beautiful the beaches have not been the best. In Washinton state the sand was black & in Oregon it was a mid grey colour but at least it's getting a bit lighter now. We had a look around Monteray & Carmel-by the Sea, better known for once having Clint Eastwood as it's mayor many years ago, you wont find any MacDonalds here.
The drive down the Big Sur coastline is somewhat similar to the Great Ocean Road, & we were lucky to have a lovely day in which to do it, it's quite often foggy & the ocean can't be seen at all. Tonight we are camped on a bluff overlooking the ocean, very beautiful if a tad windy.
