The parade was good but nothing like Sydney's Mardi Gras, there were a few floats & people dressed up but it was more a parade, whereas Sydney's is at night & is a real mardi gras. Here, they have all day to party on afterwards & the crowds were amazing. It was a good day & we were glad we went.
Caught the bus back to the motorhome & ventured off down the coast.
Left the RV park this morning & were dreading the drive into San Francisco as when we arrived yesterday it was a 12 lane freeway with cars zooming past. Luckily, today was Sunday & we left about 8 for a half hour drive so there wasn't much traffic about. We crossed the Golden Gate bridge & took a right turn & headed for the beach. We had found out the day before that there is free parking at the beach all day & you can hop a bus into the city, about 15 minutes & $2.00 each. The parade didn't start till 10.30 so we were there in plenty of time & able to get a good spot. We did look at doing the cable cars but the queue was enormous again, even at this time of day. We were told later that the trick is to walk up the street past a couple of stops & then get on, but we were over it by then.
