Because we wanted to get to the NW coast of Washington& to avoid Seattle we crossed over to Whidbey Island by bridge then by ferry we travelled to Port Townsend. It was much easier & cheaper than driving all the way down & back up again. It cost us a grand total of $28 for the 2 of us plus the motorhome & that was or a 1/2 hr ferry crossing.
Port Townsend is a very old town, went out to Fort Warden, an old military fort, some lovely buildings & some of the filming for the movie "An Officer & a Gentleman" was done here. A lot of the buildings in town were built in the late 1800's & have been restored & the downtown area is very interesting with lots of different shops.
Port Angeles was our next stop & it too has a very interesting downtown area. Camped at Walmart again, the last couple of times we've stayed at Walmart there have been people in cars camping the night, quite often trucks stay overnight as well.
