Today we headed in an easterly direction along Desert View Drive which takes you 25 miles along the Canyon. We drove the motorhome as you are allowed on this section & we were headed out of the park. There is a watchtower there that you can go up & have fantastic views around & can really see the Colorado River from there. We were talking to the lady in the visitor information centre there & she was saying they quite often have snow there in May & right up to the end of the month so think we have been extremely lucky. Last night wasn't as cold as the night before & it is another beautiful day. We have jumpers on at night & in the morning but by about 10am have to take them off.
She also told us about a couple of trading posts along the way to stop at. The first one was at Cameron & was huge but just after we pulled up so did about 5 buses so we didn't stay long. The next one was near a place called Ganado & was a working trading post called the Hubbell Trading Post. Unfortunately, we didn't realise that the Navajo territory was practising daylight saving time so we arrived just as they were closing so camped on the corner just up the road. It was a bit confusing actually as it was only this one little pocket of Arizona that was using daylight saving
The scenery on the way here was beautiful & we were in real Indian country.
