Left Kingman & Walmart, think we might be visiting there a bit, this one was open 24 hrs. On our way to the Grand Canyon we left the highway to go to a place called Seligman as it was a part of the old Route 66. As we came into town there were vehicles everywhere. It turns out there was a fun run (rally) on, which was leaving from Seligman & travelling along Route 66 to Kingman for the night then finishing the next day at Oatman. This is the longest stretch of the route still in existence & this is the 25th year of the fun run. There were between 800-900 vehicles in the run & there were every sort of classic american cars  that you could think of plus a lot of newer models, lots of Corvettes. We were just at the right time.
From there we went to the Grand Canyon, couldn't get into the camp inside the park the first night as it was full, I guess because it was a Saturday night, so had to stay just outside the park but booked for the following night
They have a really good shuttle bus system there which is free & have 3 different routes, again, it is hop on-hop off at any of the stops. There is only a 8-10 minute wait between buses at any of the stops so you usually have time to have a bit of a look, take some photos & then the next bus is there or you can wait for the one after. We did the eastern end today & will do the western end tomorrow. It is so much easier than parking the bus all the time & some of the areas private vehicles aren't allowed.
The Grand Canyon is truly amazing, you see photos of it but it's totally different when you actually see it, it'so huge.
Saw our first wildlife today, an elk & some deer & some squirrels.
