After being told our train would take 10 hours from the Thai border, we got into Bangkok after 8:00am. First taxi driver didn't know where we were staying; the second also didn't know but was able to give us a fixed price. Nice.

The hotel had given our room away, they told us we canceled, and we hadn't. After a few questions that the woman did not understand, our room got upgraded and we got a free breakfast.

After a quick shower we headed off into town on the sky rail. From there we met Tom Cruise, checked out the mall and met a man who sent us on our first tuk tuk ride to a "government run" tourist office. We were almost bullied into booking a bus, boat, and accommodation package out to one of the islands but managed to dodge that.

We went for a quick "snack" that turned into a huge meal, as always. It took us a long time to find China Town; neither of us was able to read the map that day. We did stumble across a small market, where we were able to find Rob another pair of thongs (#4). Fingers crossed these ones last the rest of the trip.

After another tuk tuk, we made it to China Town and wished that we hadn't eaten already, and that we had 10 friends so we could have the whole suckling pig. The markets were all kind of same same to what we had already seen. After walking for a few hours we tried to find our way back, and got lost again.

A tuk tuk came to our rescue. He offered us a cheap ride, super cheap, with a couple of catches. Back to another tourist agent we went. The woman ended up throwing her pen and leaving us, as we wouldn't book straight away. We are not sure how this is a real business, as they have no computers, faxes or phones. Then back at the tuk tuk, it was suit shopping time, so he could get ''5L petrol from his sponsor". We ended out jumping and bailing and he was not so impressed.

The walk back we were followed by tuk tuks until we found the sky train to get back.

This was where we decided Thailand was not the place for us and booked our flights back to Malaysia.

We had a few drinks, went for some delicious Thai food, and watched a movie.

Since we were both fairly uninterested in going back to the city center, we hung out in our area. We were supposed to have a day of street snack food. It didn't turn out so as we walked past a dentist and decided to go for a consult and teeth clean. Fun!

The afternoon was spent fairly lazily.

We jumped a cab and headed to the airport for our midday flight to Malaysia.

After being through Cambodia and Laos, we had quite the shock of a hectic, white, real world, city! We think we have made the right choice on bailing.

Malaysia is truly Asia.
