After finding we were early for check in we left our luggage and wandered down to the beach and found a cafe for a light lunch then it was back to check in. They say first impressions of a hotel tell the story and this was no exception. Reception could hardly be called friendly and welcoming and the room though comfortable enough had no tea/coffee making facilities which you would normally expect. So despite being close to the beach and with breakfast included we were glad we were only staying 2 days at Las Vegas hotel. The breakfast hours were 7.30 to 10am which was fine for the first morning but today our train was at 8.20 so we needed to leave by 7.30 so we asked for early breakfast at 6.45. Well how difficult was that!! 3 plates of pastries, a container of OJ and two glasses, 2 cups and saucers and 2 empty coffee pots??!! Not impressed but not surprised.
Had a lovely grilled fish and salad meal just along the street last night and had a long conversation with the waiter George a Uruguyan who lives in Spain. He was a keen rugby follower and knew all about the All Blacks.
He offered us a taste of a couple of local liqueurs which we accepted of course one was fruit based and one herb. A lovely meal. We wandered back to the hotel and sought to get a nightcap from the lounge bar while we checked our mail. No such luck. Despite the bar hours saying it should be open we were told that it was closed!!
Earlier in the day we had wandered into the city for a look around the shops and back before heading to the beach for a couple of hours. We had a drink at a beachside bar on our way back before heading out top dinner. The sea looks nice but has a lot of rubbish in it compared to home and more people seem to sunbathe than swim. An almost all over tan seems to be the objective for quite a number!!
There are plenty of activities to do in Malaga but it is not as close at hand as Marbella and if we came back here we would definitely look at another hotel.
