An early rise in Malaga today(31/8) saw us catch the 8.20am HS train to Barcelona. Another pleasant journey at speed and in right on time at 2pm. The distance covered is over 750km. Taxied to our hotel near the airport and will have a quiet evening before catching the airport shuttle at 6am for our 8am easy jet flight to Gatwick London before catching our train to Lincolnshire where we will live for the next 4 weeks at 4 Town Hill Lane, Bucknall, Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire.
Up early and no breakfast before our shuttle ride to terminal 2 to catch our flight. First time we have had a flight where there was no seating allocation and you just sat where their was a space. We took off a little late at 8.25 after a very long taxi that lasted 15 minutes - we must have toured the airport!!
We landed at Gatwick at 9.30 and were soon through border security and collecting our luggage then catching the shuttle to the south terminal and the Gatwick train station where we collected our tickets and waited for our 11.02 express to London St Pancras. The trip took about 50 minutes and then it was just a short walk to Kings Cross to catch our train to Newark Northgate. This service went all the way to Edinburgh and we were going to the second stop about and hour and a quarter away. Normally we would have changed trains again at Newark to go to Lincoln but our hosts Vic and Val offered to drive a little further and pick us up here instead of Lincoln. They were waiting for us and we had a lot to catch up on as it is 18 months since they were with us. About 30 minutes later we arrived a 4 Town Hill Lane in the village of Bucknall that will be our home for the next 4 weeks. After a walk around the village and a lovely barbecue we went to bed for the very first time in an English house. Next morning Val helped me to secure tickets to Old Trafford on the 15th to watch MU play Wigan. What a great Father's day gift to give myself!. They took us for a drive to buy some groceries and then after lunch and the final questions, answers and instructions they left for their 4 weeks away and we were left in charge of our new residence. We have access to a bus service, 2 bikes and our walking skills for the next 4 weeks. There is much to explore in the local area so this will be quite a different experience from the past few weeks. We are going to Manchester on the 14th for 3 nights by bus to Lincoln and then on by train and will be staying at the Copthorne Hotel.
