A 1 hour flight from Chiang Mai saw us landing at Bangkok international - only 3years old it is massive and would rival Singapore's impressive
Terminal. After the gate the sign said 570 metres to the baggage claim. Our prebooked taxi was waiting to greet us and transfer us to Pattaya 90 minutes away on the freeway and much of the way at 120-130 kmh. He drop us at our resort and when we queried he assured us it was the right place and then left. Well of course it wasn't
So we had to get another cab to take us to the right hotel. Lesson don't let the cab leave till you're certain you're at your destination.
Our room is on the 3rd floor with a balcony overlooking the large pool and beyond to the sea. The beach is a 100m down the street and we are off for a beach walk this morning. Yesterday(14/9) we had 20 min stroll to the Big C shopping centre and checked out the local area. It has rained late afternoon both days.

Now it's Thursday afternoon(16/8) and after today we have just 3 days left. We went for a beach walk yesterday morning. That was nice with lots of condos and apartments and hotels but pretty hot and humid. We were away for a couple of hours and then back for a much needed cool off in the pool. We shared a club sandwich by the pool for lunch. Sat by the pool for most of the afternoon used the iPads to check mail and the net. Walked up the street for a lovely one hour oil massage. Just awesome!! Then nearby to an Italian restaurant for a Thai dinner.
This morning after our swim session in the pool we had a big brekkie - bacon, beans, eggs, toast and coffee. Then we walked the beach toward the south and easily strolled around to the main bay where all the action happens. Had a cool drink in a coffee shop on Beach road before strolling up soi 6(full of girlie bars )- interesting names eg. 'Hole In One' and the 'Bang Up Bar' !!!? Many others. Once back on Pattaya 2nd road we caught a taxi truck back to our street Naklua 18 road. An interesting place.
Our hotel wifi is not working at present which is a nuisance. We need to go out and get connected later on(to the net I mean) if they don't have it fixed.
Have enjoyed our last few days here and have passed the time relaxing and shopping. We have worked the taxi truck system and that makes getting around very cheap and easy. For just 20baht(60 cents) we can get dropped into the city and get home again for the same. Mind you it's an open air light truck so you are exposed to all the exhaust fumes and pungent odours that abound here. Smoking is definitely a major pastime here and they are very cheap compared to Auz.
Yesterday went into city and watched Bledisloe 1 in a nice Cafe where we had dinner during the second half. We will be in Spain for next weekends game.
The wifi we were using packed up and I discovered I could get into the condo system from our room so that has been a bonus over the last few days.
We will go back into town this afternoon for a last look at a big shopping complex we saw last night and then it will be back to pack for an early start as our taxi is booked for 5am. We fly out on Air India to Delhi for a 2 hour stopover before on to London for 1 night and then it's Eurostar to Barcelona on Tuesday - arriving Wednesday morning. See you in Spain! Ole!!
