Our journey continues with our early morning departure by train for Bangkok. We had tried to buy these tickets online but couldn't, then when we arrived, then on Monday but we were told we could not buy till the day before. Why is a mystery? So we now have tickets for the 6. 29 express to bangkok though what time it will arrive is another mystery!
At the station now and waiting for train 36 which we now discover is 1 hour late, due at 7.30. Surprise!!
Well 36 arrived just before 7.30 and we were on the way. Now on the go for just over 2 hours and have just had cheese and crackers with green tea from our thermos of hot water. I think we are due in to BK at 11.30.

We arrived at 11.30 and no trouble getting a taxi for 300b but the driver took us to the wrong hotel - the royal instead of the palace! So after 25min ride we were off again and finally another 25 mins later we made the Palace. The big advantage of a fixed price fare if the driver gets lost!
Hotel is dated but very good and buffet brekkie is included plus it is very adjacent to shops, restaurants and market stalls. Had a swim in the hotel pool after a walk out for and explore and to get our bearings. Bought snack lunch from kerbside stalls and coffee from Starbucks. Had no luck finding a free wi-fi though. Went out for dinner to a big basement food court. Very nice and very cheap - 90b for 2 fresh cooked noodle dishes - about $3. Street side market stalls selling everything and lots of food. On way home we got fresh banana pancake with condensed milk to share for 30b. Yum yum!!!
3/8 we have a late check out at 2pm and will go to the station at about 6.30 to catch train 13 to Chiang Mai. Train is overnight leaving at 7.30pm and arriving CM 10.30am. It's nearly 1pm and we are in Coffee bar catching up on mail. Checking out at 2pm. Ciao!
