Boarded express 2 to Butterworth(Penang) on time but were 20mins late leaving. First Class is spacious and comfortable and would have been very flash in the 1960's. Really needs a full refurbishment but for $20 each for a 6 hour trip who could complain? We are now stationary 5 Kmart out of KL and we seem to be nowhere! Don't know what we are waiting for? Now we are moving again!!
Its 4.50 and now stopped at Tanjung Malim but on our way again. Countryside is very green and lush with lots of trees and plantations.
Very relaxing watching rural Malaysia roll by at 80 to 100kph.
Arrived Ipoh at 6.20 - large regional station now on our way again.
Just when we were wondering when we were going to eat the food cart came down the carriage and we purchased a nasi goreng and a mee goreng a total of 10 ringgits. Very nice and piping hot. With the coke it was $4 AUD.
Sun still shining here as it nears 7pm.
Arrived Butterworth at 9.30pm and got taxi to ferry for Georgetown and Sunway hotel. Arrived 10.15. Nice room on 12 th floor. Went out for supper and to bed late. Noisy night but some sleep and lazy morning with nice breakfast. Checking out soon and heading back to station to catch overnight express to Hua Hin in Thailand where we stay for 6 nights. Time to relax and enjoy.
