Sunday
was spent starting the day with a very pleasant and leisurely breakfast. After which we caught the notorious No.11 bus (free theme park thrill ride along the way) to the Graeme Hall Nature Sanctuary. A pleasant couple of hours was spent there looking at the Flamingos, Red Ibis and Macaws. Rob even got me to go into the Aviaries. A very nervous time was spent in which I did not know whether I was perspiring from the heat/humidity or stress from being ANYWHERE near birds. This place is an amazing oasis of greenery in the middle of suburbia where you might be convinced you were hundreds of miles from the city. There has been real forethought in creating this reserve of original bushland. We then took the No. 11 bus into Bridgetown to visit the Pelican Craft Centre. Unfortunately being  Sunday most of the stalls were closed but a few interesting souvenirs were bought. It was then back to the Resort for a quiet night of packing and trying to fit everything back into the suitcases. Glad we are travelling in USA as they do not have a weight restriction for luggage.

We are now concluding our visit to this exciting Caribbean region.  It has been a fabulous time despite a few niggles with transport and accommodation with all concerned very appreciative of the warmth, helpfulness and friendliness of the local people who have worked so hard to make the event successful.

I think many words will be written to record the history of this event and some directed at the ICC will not (justifiably) be kind. They have been too ambitious in the earnings targets to the events with the pricing forcing out the locals to a great extent. They could have listened more to the needs of the locals and in some cases supported them more. The whole concept of staging the second semi-final on St. Lucia was not planned well and was fundamentally flawed. The operation of things at Grenada was probably the best of the what we saw in the 2 weeks. The stadium was ready and was spot-on with its amenities and presentation. They could have hosted a great Final.

Although a long way to travel for Australians this region is well worth the visit and will continue to grow and improve in standard with time. Our best regards to all in the Caribbean.

Monday
Now we are heading back to the U.S. to visit Anna and Sanjeev in North Carolina before proceeding on to Washington and NYC. Another day just travelling.
