Early morning wake up call at 5-30 so we could be on the river at 6-00 to watch the jungle wake up (and ourselves). We headed down the Kinabatangan River to one of its tributaries. Petrol engine was swapped to electric so we could quietly cruise down the river. We saw Probuscis monkeys, Greater Coucal (sounds like a Cuckoo), Rhinoceros Hornbill, Oriental Darter and Crimson Sunbird. The subjects tended to be too far away from our not-quite-up-for-the-job camera so photos are a little disappointing.

clearly you are going to have to do this trip again with a better camera next time.

Yep - you are right again. Realised the error early on and was looking seriously in KL and KK but the deals are better at home or ex-HK. This trip has highlighted the inadequacies - especially when it comes to close-ups on distant wildlife.
