It's nice to thumb twiddle a day or too,
Soon comes a time,
Rather less sublime,
When you're getting bored,
And being ignored.
Some may say,
They're receiving their pay,
But what is more,
Your thumbs get sore.
It's a feature of the job that you'll be unassigned for a while finding a new project, but usually the people you know in the company have always got things you can do to help them out and use your time profitably. Unfortunately, a lot of people I know have either left or don't have much to do themselves and the newly imposed obligation to be in the office, rather than just contactable when you're unassigned is a bit of a pain. It sounds as if we're all suffering for the idiots who abused the system.
