After an early wake up call and breakfast on board we are transferred by coach to the centre of Brugge around 9.30 am.
A full day in the centre of Brugge, but with temperatures close to zero and snow predicted the day before it could be a cold few hours. So a long lunch in a restaurant predicted.
Returning by coach at 5pm to the ferry and an evening meal and another night on board.
Awoke at 6.30am (half an hour early !) with my mobile sending me around 5 text's welcoming me to Europe and telling me how expensive calls would be back home - Aaaaagh
Just about got back to sleep and 7am the ships tannoy announced in 7 languages that breakfast was being served. Well I might as well give up and go to breakfast !!
Back to the posh restaurant and continental breakfast - why is it with a mainly deserted restaurant the bloke on the next table is stinking out the place with smoked haddock and poached eggs !! Why can't they sit at the far side of the restaurant !
Had a chuckle as another customer asked what type of coffee they served. The foreign staff asked "white, black, white without milk, black with milk !" I think she was meaning cappuccino but with no sense of humour the waiters joke was lost on her !
Just approaching Zebrugge and the crossing has been like a millpond, with the sun up it looks like its going to be a great day.
Just transferred to the coach, clear sky's but cold. Glad I have a wooly hat. 20 minute transfer and we should be in the centre of Brugge - chocolate here we come.....
We seem to have been dropped off at the railway station. To anyone that knows Brugge that's a good half an hour walk from the centre. Actually, in hindsight it was great, we walked through deserted cobbled streets and back alleyways and eventually found the market place.
Due to inclement weather we decided to go on a bus city tour, 50 minutes of warmth, this is when the snow started.... I am glad we were on here.. Brugge is a beautiful place especially with the snow !!!
When we arrived back in the centre after another short walk we decided to go for lunch ... Well actually Cambrinus - a pub that sells 400 different types of beer.. So bye then !!! HIC !!!!
Number 38 of best restaurants in Brugge according to trip adviser ... I will review after some beers.....
I can certainly recomend this place.... tried not quite all the 400 beer range but certainly gave it my best shot !! My god they were strong. That will warm the cockles for the afternoon.
The meal was great - loads of food and excellent quality, did not need the extra plate of chips we ordered...
Now what are we going to do for the next three hours... and its cold out there.
What a long walk... That's what we have done for three hours ! I think we have seen every canal, every church, every street in Brugge
The highlight of the afternoon was afternoon tea.... Never mind Betty's this cafe was wow. I had "chocolate Maison" which involved making your own hot chocolate !! (See picture)
A short further walk brought us back to the railway station and a short wait before our coach transfer back to the ferry.
Evening departure was like a mill pond, with another "posh" meal whilst sailing away from Brugge.
Early to bed as we are knackered... No on board party tonight !
