Tour Blog

Indulge in a delicious BBQ buffet dinner, hopefully sampling some of the local catch.

You have free time to enjoy the pristine beach, which is literally only metres from our bungalows or island-hop to the nearby Gili Trawangan or Gili Meno.

My Blog

Up at 8.30 (is this allowed in paradise ?) yes of course when our group has a private charter boat to go all round the three Gilli islands snorkelling for the day, and what a highlight this has been. With clear blue sky's and horrendously hot temperatures it was delightful jumping off the boat into the crystal clear waters with abundant coral and tropical fish. Then came the once in a life time experience we saw turtles - with them coming to the surface once ever five minutes and the rest of the time down at the bottom at only 5 metres, we tracked and swam with them for ages, my highlight was diving down and grabbing his shell with both hands and letting him
Pull me along, until I forgot I was under salty sea water and breathed in - I quickly surfaced nearly drowning !!!

One of the dives saw miniature jellyfish which stung us all, it's amazing how creatures so small that you can hardly see can be so fierce !!

apart from Donna who was sick the rest of us the stinging sensation when quickly away. Donna was fine once she had fed the fish !!!!

After a snack lunch (hot dog for helen) at the third of the islands we returned to Gilli air our own island (more snorkelling on the way).

Our boat had a glass bottom so great fun was had by various of the guys especially Kieran who sat underneath the boat looking in !!!

A free afternoon saw most of the group sit around our hotel pool relaxing whilst Donna and me went half way round the island to the other side geocaching, to the only geocache on the island. This was only the second geocache we have been able to find.

The location was amazing (the bar owner pointed out the cache hidden in the rafters of his palm hut cafe) we lay down on chaise long type chairs under our bamboo house and the waves were lapping at our feet, and had fresh lime drinks and ate deep fried banana snacks.

As the sun sets on our last day with the group we have huge smiles (on our red faces) but not looking forward to our long flights in a few days time

After a fish BBQ on the beach tonight the group heads off back to Lombok and Lombok airport tomorrow , we are having a private boat transfer to Trawangan (one of the other islands ) where we have another day in paradise.

The fish BBQ was a bit of a disaster for me as I did not fancy the tuna and calamari, so I chickened out and had a roast chicken skewer instead, which turned out not to be on a skewer and raw in the middle... Pack of crisps on the way home then, apparently the food was fantastic and the rest if the group enjoyed it.
