Tour Guide
Ubud is Bali's main arts and cultural centre, recently made famous by the Hollywood movie, Eat Pray Love. It's a wonderful place to experience the magic that has made Bali such a popular travel destination.
My Blog
Wow what service got woken up with a "good morning" and a tap on the bungalow door with a man with a tray of breakfast, poached eggs and bacon on toast, fresh strawberrys, hot chocolate and tea and fresh pineapple juice and more toast, butter and locally made strawberry jam. So we sat on our balcony and munched !!! Best breakfast yet !
Next stop this morning we visited a botanical gardens with bamboo, cactus and other exotic plants but Helen spotted a "jungle ape" climbing system through the trees and both her and kieran then tackled the orange blue red and finally the black courses. All the adults decided we were too old especially on the back course you had to jump off a 50 foot high platform half way up a tree via a swing rope that then ended on a cargo net that you then had to climb up !! Helen screamed like a girl, Kieran just looked cool !
After a delightful lunch back at our hotel strawberry hill we then departed back in the ubud direction and after a few hours in the minibus we had a quick stop over at a silver factory (Bethany purchased a pendant for a necklace and we all watched the ladies performing integrate work in minute detail with little droplets of silver,
The next stop was a foundation for midwifery and they take the poor and teach them and finally the return them to their villages. Doctors and other staff from all over the world volunteer their time training. The poorest ladies then cone to have babies as these can not afford to go to a hospital for care. The birthing centre is supported by intrepid, the company we are travelling with. So moving !
So back to where we started from our hotel in ubud for one night and a quick brush up and rest and the onwards to the next island... Lombok
Another welcome meeting as we start our second tour, we are loosing Peter and his wife Lynn and Kim from Germany and graham from Australia.
We have also met our new travelling companions Andrea and Martin from collogne who are on honeymoon and Ellie from Zurich and Sarah from London, welcome !!!
I must also mention Emily and Casey from the USA who sat in on our meeting but realised after half a hour they were not travelling with us and they were in the wrong group !!! So they were yanked off our table !!
We then went out to pundi pundi restaurant for a meal and finally retired to bed apart from Andrea, Martin, Nadia and Kim who went out clubbing !!!

Finally caught up with all your entries this morning. Sounds great fun though disappointed not to have seen Monkey enjoying himself in any of the photos - or has he escaped into the jungle.
Am hoping that you will bring me back a 'galaxy bar' tree (see your earlier blog). I want one that grows the really large bars, not the 50p sized ones! I promise to take better care of it than the tea plant you once gave me!!
Looking forward to hearing more over the next few days. Bye for now.
