Ubud is Bali's main arts and cultural centre, recently made famous by the Hollywood movie, Eat Pray Love. It's a wonderful place to experience the magic that has made Bali such a popular travel destination.
Head out to Gianyar night market to try some of the local cuisine. Although the setup is very informal when eating here, it's a great way to get your first taste of the local culture and cuisine.
Enjoy a traditional Kecak dance performance, considered a highlight by most travellers. Kecak tells the Ramayana story of Prince Rama on a quest to rescue his kidnapped wife, Sita, with the help of the monkey army

A good nights sleep and we wake up to a sunny morning with a few clouds but sticky and the hotel in all it's full glory met our first companions- this is going to be wow ! So a leisurely day - nope we are going to walk round the local monkey valley.
Monkey valley was good, nice and cool under the forest canopy with lots of monkeys all within feet of us. With a hidden valley in the middle with fast running stream pleasant and cool in all this heat.
Now having lunch before sitting round the pool this afternoon before our tour starts at 7pm tonight
After a relaxing afternoon in the pool we finally met some of our group - Graham from Australia (the seasoned traveller) Chris, Moira and their two children Kieran and Bethany (all from Bath, UK and went out to a nearby night Market to experience the delights of local cooking and food. You can buy anything including goldfish shoes pans deep dried bananas and other unexplained food
After an evening meal (fried rice and chicken) we returned to the hotel for a well deserved sleep
