What an amazing day !! Where do I start !!!

We had another amazing breakfast in full sun on the balcony with views to Sorrento, across Naples bay and towards mount Vesuvius. A pre ordered taxi at 8.15 (a posh Merc) took us down to the port and we hopped on board the Paul & Shark hydrofoil to Capri, a small island 30 minutes away. The harbour and Capri itself is amazing. We then transferred to a smaller boat with two decks (around 20 people) and cruised all around Capri Island for two hours, stopping at Grotta Azzurra( blue grotto) Grotta Verde (green) Arco Naturale (natural arch) Grotta Bianca (white grotto) and back to Marina Grande (main port)

The blue grotto was amazing, we swapped into little rowing boats that held three people (plus the Captain) a nod entered a small cave opening. We had to lie down in the bottom of the boat as the roof entrance was very low !! Once inside there was a large cave of which the entire water was a deep blue (from the sunlight of outside)

What a trip, but it was now only 11.30 and we hopped on a small public service bus (fits around 15 people) and travelled up the 'O My God Road'. The road (wide path) wound it's way up the mountainside to Ana-Capri. With hairpin bends and sheer drops 1000 metres it's not a bus journey with a fear of heights. At some moments the road edge was not visible and it looked like the bus was tipping over the edge !!

Relieved we arrive and immediately jumped into a one seat chairlift to take us to the very top of the mountain !!!

3/4's of an hour later we were back on terra ferma and stopped for a light lunch in the sunshine at a small cafe.

Then it was back on that bus ride from hell and down the mountain once again to Capri town.

With ice creams we headed for the Stairway to Heaven, this time it was a pathway (called Krupp) a zig zag pathway that would its way down the side of the hill. I can see why it is called 'Heaven'. This is one of the most beautiful places I have been on earth !!

With a cobbled footpath with views down to clear blue/green waters below - bliss !!!

A quick dash back to Capri centre and down in the funicular to return to the port and our Hydrofoil back to Sorrento !!!

What a day !

Mum and dad on

Did the driver of the bus on the way down from Ana Capri keep taking his hands off the wheel to cross himself?
