What an exciting day, early morning start (well 9.30 after a full buffet breakfast - I do like the egg chefs here !) and we were sitting in the lobby when our air conditioned transfer bus came to pick us up....

20 minutes later we were whooshing across the bay on a day trip of a lifetime in our private speedboat !

After around an hour we came to an amazing sandy beach with very few people with the usual high tree lined rocks that we have been seeing here.  A quick 1/2 hour swim and snorkel on this sandy beach, not much to look at just one schoal of fish, but what an amazing beach top relax on.

Then  we ere on our way again and around 45 minutes later of full speed whoosh accross the bay we came across James Bond Island.  Whilst all the tourist long boats were battling for docking space as a private boat we landed directly onto the beach.  A busy little island with loads of tourists and a lot of small stalls selling every seashell you can imaging.. no James Bond paraphanalia (they dont know about how to sell here !!!) A quick walk around with plenty of pictures especially the cave when the entrance to Scaramagers cave was supposed to be and then back in the boat again.

Next detour was a "drive through" cave barely large enough to get the boat through, espcially as all the tourists in their canoes were also trying to avoid our speedboat.

Another short trip brought us to  a floating village (for name see photo of school below) in which we sat and had an amazing meal, amazing in the fact helen went for a chicken curry that was so hot you could not each a grain without 2 litres of ice cubes, Donna had thai fish cakes, which again were very spicy, My meal was the best, deep fried kind prawns in batter in a lime juice sauce with seafood fried rice !

Fresh pineapple and pineapple iced smoothies to follow.

Our boat guide then gave us a tour of the floating village (behind the tourist scenes) and we visited the normal houses and the school where we talked to the 8 year old class (their english was amazing, they loved helen !!!!)

Back to the boat and what seemed like a couple of hours back (helen doing much of the driving !!!) - a must watch video (to follow when I get home) we arrived at Nemo's house.  Now most of you who have watched the film will know what I am speaking aboyut, those others, its a clown fish !

This coral reef was the best, a small outcrop of rock, bright red (see picture) and when we dived in off the boat... wow !  So many fish of different colours and sizes, all 27 pictures soon went off the waterprrof camera (I am afraid you will have to wait until I get back to the UK to see those as I will have to get the 35mm film changed into digital !)

An hour later and our guide was waving us back to the boat, reluctantly we clambered aboard, as we could have stayed their all day !

At 5.30pm, a tired Stride family landed back at our hotel, a quick meal out in a local italian (run by a frenchman) which saw the best ravioli, tomato spaghetti and Bolonaise, followed by Banana split and Tiamaso we have ever tasted, before returning home exhausted for an early evening (yes in bed by 8.30 !)
