On the way to Tikal from Antigua we stopped in at Lanquin. The highlight of here was El Retiro, an encampment of foreigners that had great food and drinks. We also went and checked out the caves nearby lanquin which were ok. The caves at nearby Semuc Champey, however, were awesome. We had to swim all the way through them by candlelight (a few of us were a bit concerned about the long term impact this would have on the caves - ie turning them black with carbon). To get deeper into the cave it was necessary to climb a little waterfall a few metres high, which was pretty easy but looked impressive. Obviously it wasnt a good place to take a camera.
Unfortunately i cant find my memory card with my photos from here... :( Im still hoping to find it somewhere, but otherwise ive lost a bunch of photos from the start of my journey until Tikal, so i will have to try to get some photos off friends.
Ill elaborate on lanquin when i get a chance... some good stories!
