A little sleep in the next morning, then a welcome breakfast!! The tree of us took a cab ride to downtown San Jose to the Coca Cola bus station to get our tickets on the public bus to Manuel Antonio!! We went on a scenic walk of San Jose as we had a few hours to spare before departure!! The 5 hour ride included a lot of heat, no air conditioning and a 45 minute delay because of an accident on a bridge. Finally we were there! Got a hotel one block from the beach with monkeys right across from the entrance and the infamous pool where I had my diving accident with the dolphins!!

The next 5 days we spent just enjoying life!! A nice break from the hectic schedule I have been keeping the week prior!! hehe I ran the beach only once!! We walked the beach a few times, and Danny and I spent some time every day jumping waves and playing in the ocean!! Happy hour became our friend!! Margaritas for Jackie and Pina Colatas and cervazas for Danny and I!! Life is good!! We ate a lot of bocas(houderves) and found a great little restaurant at Casa Linda's(where the monkeys hung out)! We also ate a few times on the beach!! They barbequed ribs and chicken on a grill and it was delicious!! We shopped the vendors and Danny haggled down the prices for us!!

For fun....we went on a sunset cruise one day! Danny and I snorkled and I even tried it without a life jacket!! The water was deep too! We jumped off the top deck of the boat 3 times!! I didn't even scream the last time!! I'm a big boy!!  We swam from the boat to a secluded beach and met up with people who hiked from the park, just through the jungle a ways!!  We enjoyed beverages and had a wonderful meal cooked on the boat! We saw manta rays and other fish jumping in the deep blue sea! It was a beautiful day! The sunset was right on time (unlike everything else in Costa Rica). And as soon as it set we went mach speed back to the port! The boat fit 50 people and there were only 8 of us with 4 crew!! Lots of room!! It was like having a private yacht!!  A real nice day!!

So Costa Rica is known for it's white water rafting!! I have been rafting in Acculpolco and Chilliwack! I love white water rafting!! See where this is going?? Danny, Jackie, and I went white water rafting one day!! We were picked up from our hotel at 8am! We enjoyed a 2 hour bus ride on the bumpy, dusty roads of  Costa  Rica to our beginning point on the Rio Pacuar!
The three of us got our own raft with one guide! Our only stipulation, we do NOT want to flip our raft!! Wait for the story!! The river is low so the class 2, 3, 4 rapids are more class 2, 3 or as Danny would say 2 ! With my two rookies and a boat full of enthusiasm and fear...we were off!!

Our first white water gave us the encouragement we needed!! We were now a force to be reckoned with!! We were a rafting machine!! Jackie was our coach and Danny and I paddled as HARD as she told us to!! On one set of rapids Danny took a spill and went for a swim with the fishes!! Nothing was hurt, not even his pride!! After a break at the waterfall Danny and I switched sides to give our bodies a break!

Our switch in routine proved to be detrimental to our well oiled machine. Shortly after switching we came up to a HUGE set of rapids that threw us into a rock and tried to swallow us whole!! It spit me into the air and tossed everyone out of the raft! Jackie got trapped under the raft and was rescued by the guide! Danny floated a bit (yes *#!+ floats!!) and was rescued by another raft! I decided to float the fastest and start floating for the next rapids (I was out of control) with 3 paddles in my hands!! I was rescued right before the next rapids in another raft! Jackie and the guide (his name was Danny) were paddling with their hands as they were up the creek without a paddle!! Jackie had a big smile on her face so we knew everything was going to be okay!!

The rafting trip had beautiful scenery all along the way!! We saw some birds, lizards and even cows! Danny and I floated down the river in quite water too!

We had a great time and a wonderful adventure! After rafting we enjoyed a great meal at the camp then it was back in the bus! While traveling on the bus we learnt a lot about the date palms, teek plantations and local points of interest along the way! We saw crocodiles, turtles and beautiful mountain views!!

We went into Manuel Antonio National Park one morning! We hiked around the park! We saw monkeys in the tree canopy! It was nice to see them in their natural environment!! We enjoyed the prestine beaches  and the lush jungle.
