There are several ways up Mt Washington, New Englands highest mountain. You can walk of course, but also drive up or take the Cog Railway. We did't go up (it was very foggy) but had a good look at the trains....We also visited the Mount Washington hotel in Bretton Woods which was the location of the famous international conference in 1944 where a new global economy was created with the founding of the Word Bank and the IMF. The White Mountain region is spectacular it covers one quarter of New Hampshire and part of Maine and attracts 6 million visitors yearly. We didn' t find it too crowdy though and were impressed by the vast forests and mountain ranges.
