Well I'm on my way at last: how strange after such a build up.....

Been resting, sleeping and chilling out with friends in Groningen after a mad dash onto the Dutch flyer overnight ferry and then connecting trains to Groningen. My friend Helen and I left from Liverpool Street station London, on Thursday the 23 July, and we're off to Berlin tomorrow where she leaves me and I fly solo.

Hopefully the photos speak for themselves...in this, my very first entry on 26 July.

Phase 1
Hi, Claire! Don't know anything about these travel bloggy things, but I've 'signed up' even though I'm not going anywhere so I can send a few comments to you along the way. So you've now negotiated pre-Phase 1 (going away party) and Phase 1 itself i.e. getting safely across the North Sea. Good. From the pics, it also looks like you've found some unusual places too e.g. a 'no right-angle building'...hmmmm, trying to work that one out. Bon voyage.

good to hear from you, and so quickly - it looks like all is well and things going according to plan - great pictures, albeit very civilized so far but I expect things will hot up as time goes on - nothing to report from this end apart from the difficulties of getting dressed in the mornings.

Claire, you seem off to a good start!! Like the photos. Good you're keeping in contact using this blog (better than Facebook!!)- still, took me ages to realise I had to 'join' before I could e-mail!!!
