Queenstown

I write from Reavers Lodge, Queenstown from where I have been for the last two nights. VERY strange arriving in a winter climate from Singapores sticky heat. It just felt surreal having been in Mumbai not long ago to being amongst the snow capped mountains and crisp, cold climate of Queenstown. After a fourth flight in 48 hours into New Zealand on Thursday (and a great sleep that night - SO TIRED!) I awoke on Friday to get my bearings and get some jobs done (mobile phone SIM, supermarket shopping etc).

Before long I was reunited to my old friend Chris, a resident here since November who it was great to see again. Chris is joining me Snowboarding here for 9 days before we go back up to Auckland to live in a flat together. It didn't take long before it felt like we'd never been apart (roughly 30 seconds) and a good time was had Friday evening on a bar crawl around Queenstown, with more Beer consumed in one evening for me than the entire time in India! No hangover this morning though! :)

I hired Snowboarding equipment today in preparation for our first days boarding tomorrow at Coronet Peak for where there is Snow Forecast for the next few days. I noticed wandering around Queenstown over the last few days that it's hard to find a Kiwi person here. Most of the folk in the pub the other night were Aussies, the folk in the shops are all English or American and the people who run our accommodation are all Brazilian! Very expensive here in Queenstown also, so we'll be eating in the next few days I imagine.

All for now, boarding blog / pics to follow. Cowabunga! ;)

Ciou!
