Well, Liz again proved what an exceptional travel planner sh is by booking us into this hotel and also getting us a magnificent room as the photos will attest. Huge space, two bathrooms, one massive balcony area fit for parties and with great views as well as a second balcony.

The hotel is very welcoming and provides guests with a welcome package that tatses good.

The two castles here are very different and if you did not visit both you would come away with a skewed view. Whilst they are both high above the town this is mitigated by the relaxing horse and buggy ride you can take up and down.

Castle Neuschwantein was never actually finished as the King died aged 40, out on the lake with hsi Pyschiatrist. His younger brother had by then already died having also been diagnosed as mad.

The rooms and their contents in both castles are extraordinary and the mind boggles at how much they cost to produce in their day. Some incredible craftsmanship was on display, along with the wealth.

It was also intriguing the modern conveniences that were included in the 19th Century given what we use today.

The weather changed markedly this afternoon so, even though it was a bit warm this morning I'm glad we got into things early and had nice views in sunny weather for photos rather than the rain and thunder we had in the afternoon.

The lake is picturesque and offers the opportunity for swimming, if you are brave, or boating.

All in all a very pleasant stay here but off to Munich tomorrow where a tour of Allianz Arena awaits.
