Howdy
So woke up nice and early again today and hit the trail to COLD temps. Sure it was in the 40s overnight. Since we had an 900 footer right away though, it was great to WANT to climb for the sake of warming up.
Good view of Katahdin from the summit viewpoint, but I was frustrated to find there was an even better view right on the trail on the way down!! I don't like extra pointless miles and footsteps!
My shoes are at total breaking point, wearing through thin on the bottom so now I am feeling every bump straight to the foot. Very tired and painful steps. Fortunately though today's 24 was my last big hiking day!!!
Sticks and pine needles continue to sneak in the hole in my toe. Painful walking. The payoff though is ever closer. Arrived at the day's midpoint so early today that I knew I could push
farther than planned, and hiked all the way to Abol Bridge. Absolutely spectacular view of Katahdin with a river in the foreground. Some nice passersby took my photo...
Got a lift into Millinocket with Cool Tool and his friend Freddie Rat. It's odd because everyone here is either starting or finishing, yet we are driving back out tomorow with 15 still to go.
So very little to do, the excitement has really built to a fever pitch and I am ready to be on top of the AT world and then VACATION!
Hope things are going well, my phone has some issues so I don't know if any of these mails are going out. Life is so complicated outside of the woods :)
Cya!
