Hello,
Greetings from Monson, ME also known as the last stop before the 100 mi wilderness and last trail town on the AT. Hiked 18 miles by 1:30 to really live it up here. I really needed the time off and chance to sit on the couch, eat ice cream, and relax relax relax.

Woke up at 5:30 this morning and blew through the miles, averaging over 3 mph. Had to ford two rivers today which were nearly up to my knees. It was actually kind of fun an very refreshing to soak the legs in icy cold river water!

Lots of roots and rocks still but there were stretches of great trail that I was glad to have on my way to town. Picked up by someone that initially drove by me but then came back to give me a lift. Mainers continue to be awesome!

I'm staying at the (AT) famous Shaws Hostel. I'm looking forward to hitting the sheets shortly :) The quiet town of Monson is hopping tonight with a bluegrass concert and now a party in the streets. Crazy!  Unfortunately (and perhaps ubderstandably) I'm too tired to go participate. The couch has been my home and I've eaten pizza and ice cream all afternoon. Looking forward to an all you can eat breakfast too.

The 100 mi wilderness means you probably won't be hearing much from me for the next while. The stretch is the wildest part of the trail. There should be many lakes, mountains, streams, mud, roots, and views of Katahdin. The "greatest mountain" beckons ahead, and I can't wait
to get there finally.

I hope that you are doing well. It's been fun having you all along and I look forward to filling you in soon and sharing many final thoughts on the trail.
Keep it real!
