Hey!
So today started off in a grand way: free pancakes! The caretaker at the cabin welcomed the morning sunshine with fresh coffee (which I don't like) and pancakes. The other guys had also picked up some blueberries, so that was pretty amazing as well.

The hike was somewhat frustrating, as unfortunately I overheard a section hike saying it was really flat and easy. The trail is never "really flat and easy" and its overgrown weeds and hidden rocks made for a long tiring day. We spent quite a bit of the hike together (Enoch, Specs, Redman, and Slapshot) which always feels like a sporting event or army group march. Not something I do much of.

Also had three incidences of trail magic (ah weekends!) including some water, soda, and mobile magic from some past hikers in apples, Gatorade, and candy.

I took an epic fall on a puncheon (your word of the day... meaning boards used to cross boggy areas) when I stepped on the edge and then totally fell into the bog. Somehow I am convinced my brain knew to fall into the mud rather than risk serious injury on the boards, and also falling on the side of my pants that didn't have my camera. Amazing. Slapshot was behind me and definitely had a chuckle.

Dalton is a trail town. You walk right through! There is this amazing guy that lives right on the main drag and let's hikers crash at his place. Probably the best place yet along the way... He even shuttles us out to get subs and then to visit a Dicks Sporting Goods store. Weird to be in there because last time I visited that place I was just planning the whole trip. Now I am a veteran hiker. My what a few months can change.

Spent the evening hanging out on the porch then went to the bar. The locals all seemed to know that hikers come through a lot. We are half attraction and half annoyance. Our beards definitely give us away, but sometimes it's a status symbol. Nonetheless, can't wait to shave.
Hope y'all are doing well. I hope to get this all updated soon to the webpage! I miss getting the comments and other info. Take care.
