Hey hey hey!
So I'm sitting here swatting mosquitos up at the top of Blue Mtn... Had a superb view of the Cumberland Valley on the way up. Now we are sitting tight waiting for a thunderstorm to drop the temps a bit.

Woke up very early to try to beat the heat (high of 92 today) and left camp at a respectable 6:30. One quick climb then down to field flat walking for most of the rest of the day.  The Cumberland Valley is the flattest section of the entire AT (or so I've heard) and it lasts for about 15 mi. Right upon entering the fields you can look all the way across the valley and see the ridge far in the distance... It certainly looks much further than a short days walk.

Visited the cute, quaint town of Boiling Springs, PA in middle morning. The town was by far the nicest on the trail to this point, although very limited hiker services. I went to the gas station and ate a bunch of cheap breakfast foods with Make Time. Helped give me a big jump through some of the fields.

Just a total collapse of hiking abilities in the middle of the day but fortunately I had already crossed the worst of the fields in the hot sun. I was smart enough to apply sunblock and wear my big hat.  There was also no water in this stretch but we stopped at the Scott
Farm (and ATC property) where there is a water spigot and port-a-potty.

I spent 4 hours there waiting for the midday heat to pass. Sat with Willard, Make Time, Go Fish, and Speaker. It was a good idea. The last climb up was quick but hard, much easier to do in the evening.

Not much else to report for today. I'm excited for the weekend hike, taking it a litle slower and also enjoying my town stop tomorrow.

Hope everyone is well. I hope not everyone is suffering through this heat wave, but I guess air conditioning might help.

Robert, a belated CONGRATULATIONS on crossing the half-way mark! Awesome feat, and I am just amazed at what you are accomplishing every day. It is hot here, too. Even Grandma Boyd has the air conditioning on. haha. It is kind of wild to read you are in 92 degree heat when not that long ago you were hiking through snow.
Hope you catch up with your peeps and have a great hiking weekend. Sending some good vibes your way. Hang in there, and keep on truckin'. You are such an amazing guy!
My question for today is how do we convince Colin to pitch in the next game? His poor team has lost all 5 games they've played -- mostly because they don't have anyone who can pitch. Colin has a good arm, but he is worried about the pressure. Think back and dig deep. Did you pitch? Was there anything that would have made you pitch? Sorry, not an AT q at all. I'm just a desperate baseball Mom who needs a win for her kid! JK
Love, Yvie
