Hi!
Today was a nice day on the trail. We had great weather for a change (no rain for the first time in 9 days) and the terrain was fairly mellow. Temps in the 70s, you get the idea!

We passed route 66 today which heads straight into DC. In fact all day you can hear and see the airplanes on final approach to Dulles. We have come a long way. Crossed the Sky Meadows State Park today which was quite lovely, although lots of long grass for the ticks to hang out in. (found 2 deer ticks today)

Saw another bear this morning (2 days in a row!) but this one was smaller and I just saw it's backside as it was running away through the forest.  Haven't seen any thruhikers in 2 days, so that is somewhat strange... Definitely a first along the way. Fortunately each night I've found some cool section hikers to hang out with.

So today was 19 mi but my feet did feel a little better (and they look a little better too) perhaps this means they'll heal up, I'm so excited to get to Harpers Ferry, but I was gonna use the feet as an excuse to zero there!!

Regards to the questions in the comments: did I have my camera handy for the bear yesterday? No, because it was raining my camera and phone were stashed away In a ziplock bag inside my pack. Normally they are ready to go in my pockets!

Also, have I tried Dr Scholls gel inserts? Well when I worked at Kmart and spent all day on my feet they worked great... But I understand that out here with the added weight and pounding that the gel fails quickly. Foam is supposed to be the best.
Hope all is well! Keep the comments and questions coming. Tomorrow is the "roller coaster" so it should be exciting. Not.

Hola, Roberto!
Wow, you have accomplished a ton of hiking since the last time I read your blog. Bye-bye, Virginia! Ya-hoo for you. Your trek is so amazing to me, so hang in there.
Colin hit a grand slam at his baseball game tonight. He's just a little excited (not to mention his Dad). Sorry about your blisters -- that totally stinks. Hope they heal up real fast. I've had lots of tick bites, growing up in the country. The worst part for me was the itching after you dig them out. UGH! That itch drives me crazy! So keep finding them before they dig in. Maybe tonight you can dream of your old baseball days instead of ticks!
Chin up and all that.
