Hi everyone!
So sorry about the negativity last entry, but I hope you can understand my frustrations! Today on the tick front was slightly better, didn't wake up to any on me this morning and only found 6 on me today.

Ran into ridgerunner Midnight today. He was the first one I've encountered my entire trip! I talked to him about the ticks and he said permethyl is the thing to do. He also said they are especially bad this year because they had an early snowfall which protected the ticks when the harsh temps arrived later in the winter. Makes sense.

I've only seen 3 thruhikers in the last 3 days so hopefully that means everyone is having fun at Trail Days. There are quite a few section hikers out, and it being the weekend, many day hikers when you are near road crossings (which is always in SNP)

Woke up to rain last night and this morning so I slept in a little. It's always tough to get out of your dry space when it's raining.  Managed to dry off my rain fly during break times though... There's something awful annoying about carry extra water weight if you can't drink it!

Stopped for late lunch at a picnic ground and tried to look pathetic and starving so someone would feed me. Didn't work, but when I was preparing to leave someone did identify me as a thruhiker, chatted with me and then gave me a cold beer and some granola bars... Hooray trail magic!!  Also I had been planning all day to stop at the Lewis Mtn Campground store for dinner and I arrived at 6:05 and saw that they closed at 6!  I was about to turn away but the door wasn't closed yet so I went in and was very polite and the guy let me buy stuff. Woo! I got hot dogs and some other junk and the kid running the store gave me an old thing of mustard to take with. So I hauled my treasures to the shelter just 1 mi further and had my dinner. Yes I ate all 8 hot dogs and a package of cookies and the two coronas I also bought (awesome that you could buy individual beers)

So I am full and happy. The weather doesn't look so good for this week, but nothing I can do about that... It'll probably do some big miles since there won't be much else to do!  Hit mile 900 just a bit before lunch... Always a nice feeling! Still doesn't look like we've made much progress on the big map, but I can't wait to get out of VA!
Hope you all are well.

Missing getting to read your blogs regularly but imagine being way out on this island called kho phi phi, Thailand n I have wifi! That's trailmagic too hahaha! Had a bowl of massaman tnite in your honor.., imagine, I couldn't finish it! Wait til I pick you up in July; should have Thai cooking expertise by then... Get ready! I have blisters tday n of course thought of how I should just ignore them n br tough like u! Tmorro we bike the island so it will be a break for our feet. There are no cars here, not even tuk tuks ( google that... Tuk tuks are sooo amazing!)
happy trails to you! Drinking Angkor beer n now singha n some other Thai beer ..,. Goes sooo well with Thai seafood. You aren't the only one into food but my caloric intake is prolly one tenth of yours!
Hugs from Thailand!

Forgot to mention that this morning after we waded at low tide out to a very cool island ( and allister suggested we do a little morning yoga; great idea!) we ducked out of the intense sun under the lovely cover of a thatch roof beach bar ... As I joked that I shouldn't get a beer at 10am cuz Effie n Allister would put it on fb... A man across the bar laughed loudly and told me his wife had frowned on him thinking that thought! Of course we all got into a fin conversation over our mango/banana ( proper) smoothies. Into the chat about travels I mentioned that you were doing the A T. Now you have some Brits saying "wow" especially when they realized was talking miles... Kilom
eters are so much more impressive!!! So I think you should switch to km for how far you've Been n keep saying miles for how far to go! Seems psychologically a nice bonus!
I can say " bye" in Thai but don't know how to spell it! Remember Akhuminopot? Erickas friend? Sure wish I knew how to look her up!
Thinking of you all the time n extra lonesome when I see all the young backpackers here from all over the world!
