Hiya!
So after much deliberation, I decided to take a day off! Figured I deserved it since my last true day off was in Gatlinburg, over 400 miles ago.

So, with my free time I did a few errands. I am now the proud owner of some new shoes! I bought a pair of highly discounted trail runners made by END (environmentally neutral designs) and so well see how that effects my hiking.  Basically my boots were just much too hot and heavy for summer trekking out here. My feet were soggy nightmares and so many others have made the similar switch. I will probably recall the boots for further up north when the terrain gets really rough. Hopefully I can protect my ankles with careful hiking and use of my poles. This is definitely my chief concern!!

Also dropped a big sum of cash on a new tent. Decided that with the summer rain and bugs I didn't want to be at the mercy of those elements in my old tent. So I bought a 200 dollar Big Agnes Seedhouse SL1. Looks like it'll be in Waynesboro when I get there in a week or so.
So I made my farewell to the faithful boots and sent them via mail along with some other gear.

As I was walking the mile or so to the post office a nice guy, Sean, asked if I wanted a lift. He drove me there, waited while I mailed the stiff, and then drove me back to my hotel. He has aspirations of hiking the whole trail, and already does a lot of section hiking. The helpfulness of locals just continues to amaze!

Eat lunch at Cracker Barrel after dodging traffic on the roads to walk there. Man America was not made for pedestrians!  In the afternoon I find out that Sonic is coming to town, so I get to split the hotel room cost with him.  He gets in at 8, we go to Wendys for dinner and buy some frozen treats for dessert.

How am I going to pull myself away from these town delights!!?? It's always hard, but hopefully after a nice breakfast I'll be ready to hit the trail again in the morning!  Hope everyone is well!

Also, I had a new idea. If anyone has any questions about my trip, logistics, feelings, anything... Post a comment and I'll start answering them!
Take care.
