Hey peoples!!
Did you know that the AT has the equivalent altitude changes of climbing Mt Everest over 17 times! (that's from sea level too, not just the first base camp.)

Today we woke up early and had a fast easy hike down into Uncle Johnnys hostel just outside Erwin, Tn (pop 4800) we did over 6 miles in about 2 hrs which is pretty quick. Sadly there isn't phone reception here (well not for AT&T, other providers had it)

I decided to pitch a tent instead of a bunk because it was cheaper and it'll probably be a better sleep. I also use the time to seam seal some problem areas on my tent... Will that do the trick? We might be waiting a long time with the current weather predictions. People have started worrying about drought conditions, up north in the summer unreliable water sources can be very annoying and downright dangerous!

Went to pizza plus for their lunchtime pizza buffet AYCE. I didn't count but I ate at least 3 pizzas. Oh and a salad too, mom!  Resupplied next door at dollar general, you know that old saying, never go grocery shopping on an empty stomach? Well the opposite is true too. I nearly hurled trying to plan meals and deciding to buy Alfredo or chicken flavored Lipton sides...

Back at the hostel we hung out with some people that were catching up since we did a short day and they've done longer ones... You can't escape people you want to outhike and you can't lose the cool people either.

At dinner we order delivery and I have a chicken club sandwich and curly fries with a beer... Mmm  Sleepy now as it is 10:30. The morning and many more miles to come is quickly approaching.
Good night... Feels great to go to bed full.

Hey, Robert! Glad to hear you achieved a full stomach. Hope your heels & toes are doing OK. You would not believe the beautiful spring we are having in Michigan. Marie & I are Girl Scout camp is this weekend, and Mark & Colin have a Boy Scout outing, too -- sleeping overnight on a submarine near Muskegon. Really glad that one is father-son. ;)
Take care!
