Hello.

Editors note: this entry was somehow lost to the deep realms of the interwebs. This is a brief recreation.

Woke up really early and managed to cover a good distance before the rain caught up to us.  Sherlock and I get soaked, but partly by choice.  You have to make decisions about rain jacket or not, and this time it was just warm enough to hike in a T-shirt.  The heat generated by hiking usually makes up for any lost to the cold rain.

We hike pretty quickly with the clouds and rain eliminating the need to stop for viewpoints.  We can see Hot Springs below us as we reach the final descent.  The town is laid out just like our maps tell us and I nearly fall several times trying to locate restaurants and other places. (instead of concentrating on the trail)

Once in town we stop into the recommended lodging options only to find they are all booked!  So we go to a secondary option, a room above the local bar.  It was relatively cheap, hiker friendly, and had a hot shower.  Of course as the night dragged on it was a bit noisy.  When you are tired and accostomed to sleeping in shelters, this isnt a huge concern.

Ate huge meals at the Smoky Mountain Diner, a nice little family restaurant.  Its great to share some time with the guys from before including Roughing it, Beefstick, Aikido Jo...They had passed me by when I stopped in Gatlinburg.

This town has most of what you need, including a Dollar General to resupply and a bar to water at.  We have some ice cream sandwiches and beer with our hiker buddies and then get to bed before too late.

The rain continues into the night which makes us happy to be indoors.
