Hello,
The average thru-hiker takes about 10 zeros the whole way to Maine...from what I've heard. (plus more "neros") I'm 10% done and I've taken 2 now, so it'll have to be back to business for a while!

Today was mostly lazy, ate a nice streak and eggs breakfast and then resupplied at the nearby Kroger (enough food to get me to Hot Springs hopefully)

In the afternoon we went in to Pigeon Forge and played mini golf and rode go karts with Colin and Marie. We had a good time but all that stuff is really pretty obnoxious. Especially when you consider I've been living in the woods for weeks.

Dinner is some great salmon and I am sad thinking about how full of food I've been this weekend, and how hungry I will soon be again.  Really awesome that they could all come over to hang out with me for the weekend. They are all very busy, but it turned out to be a great weekend. (missed my brother a lot though! He is the real go kart master)

Sleeping in a bed is great but I'm also looking forward to the woods again, fresh air all the time, no traffic, and no obnoxious tourists!
It'll be painful to put on the pack again, filled with a full load of food. I did ditch a few things though, maybe that'll make a difference.
Hope you've enjoyed hearing about my encounters with civilization. Back to the trail in the morning!

Miss you already! Good ride back. Stopped at the manhattaN project science museum at oak ridge.... Very interesting ! Had to make up a little time to catch Andreas plane, yikes... But we did it! Happy trails! We sure loved the time with you! Always! Andrea talked a lot about catching up with you after she graduates to hike for awhile. She can slackpack!

Hey "Donner"! Remind me to never hike with you, with THAT trail name! YIKES!!! LOL I just caught up on your entries and enjoy remembering those days and shelters and places from my section hikes. Take care of those feet! Rain Man

Hey Rob - met you in Nashville at the WB hike/dinner. Ended up leaving on the 28th (approach trail) and doing a nero today in Franklin. It's been hot but I am loving it. Today's rain may cool things down some hopefully. Trail name is Stix (left my hiking poles back home so I'm using...sticks). Best wishes....by the way, get out of gatlinburg soon or you'll want an airbrushed tee-shirt! :>)
