Hello!
Brr, cold day today! We started the morning in Hiawasee checking out and it took a couple 20 minutes to get a hitch back to the trail. We got in the back of this guys pickup with the flurries coming down. Going 55 on the highway was so cold! Sherlock sat in the cab with the
guys dog. Coldest 15 minutes ever!

Mitch forgot his hiking poles in the back of the truck, major bummer. It's something we have to be really cautious about!

The first 4.5 miles up the trail were really easy and we met up with "we'll see" and the last 3 miles in GA were really long. We celebrated by taking pics and eating a cold lunch ( there's two inches up here on the ground and it's still coming down. I'm happy I have a warm sleeping bag. When we complete our 12 miles here at the shelter I pile my freezables into my sleeping bag and I'm gonna wait till later to make dinner.

Gonna be a long cold winter night up here! Happy spring!

A hiker's poles got put into our van in '04 at Springer right before we drove off to return to Nashville, and his trail name instantly became "Leki-less" for the rest of the 2,000 miles. LOL But we did overnight them to Neels Gap and they were waiting on him when he arrived there, so no real harm done. Rain Man
