Hey!
I am at Blue Mtn shelter tonight on top of...drumroll... Blue Mtn! Today was 14 miles of tough mtns, and it was pretty taxing. I'm hiking with Tattoo and Sherlock and we were trying to catch up with some others from before, but we seem to have passed them somehow. I've skipped up 2 days on most people now. Definitely need to slow down the pace a bit.

Day started with a beautiful sunrise at the campsite, but once I got going I was climbing over Cowrock Mtn, walking straight into the morning sun with my head down, and took a huge tree limb right to the face. I was in a bit of shock and pain, before the blood started pouring down my face. Using my iPhone as a mirror, I dabbed up the blood with TP, and fortunately everything is ok, just prolly a nasty scar right between my eyes.

After that ran into some awesome trail magic at Hogpen Gap, where Bruce from Atlanta was handing out little Debbie oatmeal creme pies and bananas... That must have kept us going for another 2 hrs. When I finish the trail I'm going to be sure to come provide some magic. What a pick me up!

Ate lunch at low gap shelter where we read about the crazy St Patricks Day party from the other night, and continued on. Can't imagine hiking with a hangover...

Right before the shelter I also managed to slide down a waterfall while trying to get water. I'm in danger of getting a really embarrassing trail name, or ending up in a hospital bed ( calm down mom, I exaggerate)

So now we are in camp, my heels are a mess, all blistered and raw... I've tried to tape them up but maybe just need to let them go and form callouses. Also need some new socks, realized on the trail that my Smartwool socks are so old they have holes in them! (just like all my other socks!)

Amazing to have phone reception in camp, cause we are high up. Nice sunset and the sunrise should hit me right in the face. I can't wait for a hot shower, a hotel, pizza or some other town food, and half a day of couch potatoing. This is hard work!  Hope you are all well, I just love all the comments, it keeps me going thinking that you are rootin' for me.
Good night

Oh right, Im supposed to be calm when you have a whole in your face and blistered feet and a little Debbie cake is nirvana????!!!! I think I need to bring you safety goggles, aloe infused socks n make your favorite dessert... Poached pears in puff pastry with homemade caramel sauce!
Symphony was great tnite... A John adAms piece"big sur", felt like nature n primitive... Would be a good piece on the iPod to listen to walking the pacific trail.... Dad n I are talking about it for retirement someday , but as slackpackers lol.

Ouch! I can feel it.

How bout when we leave you in the Smokies, we leave you with a case of something like that to hand out to everybody you see over the next few hours? Might be fun!

Two more weeks of craziness to go for me, then hopefully more normal schedule. Working today and tomorrow. Smoky weekend sounds wonderful! Can't wait.

Dad.

I am feeling your heel pain. Have any Dr. Scholl pads or bandaids? Your mother sent you out for a 6 month hike with holey socks? Time to call Protective Services. Just kidding. You are a serious warrior and we are loving keeping track of your progress. Awesome!!
