after a very interesting bus ride along the coast, where small communities of shacks, made of reed fencing, a few bricks and corragated iron, where obviously doing their best to make a living, though how in the middle of the desert i will never know... it was interesting though some had very dirty odd looking cafes by the roadside and others had shops all with make shift walls and roofs...

arriving in nasca at 9.30p, one hour late, and these buses are the punctual ones...!!.(.according to our b and b lady they lie all the time, both about how long to get there and departure time)...wierd..but so far true!...!...the bus station buzzing with people we were met and taken to our hotel..

nasca is so different...the streets are unmade just dirt tracks , apart from the main one..so as they have little rain the dust is unbelievable the shop fronts, peoples feet, cars and everything is covered  in mms of grey dust...and at one point we had to jump out of the way as a man on the back of a truck was watering down all the roads with a hose pipe ...interesting

after a good sleep ..the beds are so comfy...we took a flight over the nasca lines...something i have wanted to do for years but never thought i would do it.. a 6 seater plane took us over amazing landscape and the lines. they are huge some 90meters across it was awesome ... why are they there and who put them there is a great mystery...it was for me a dream come true i will never forget it..

we had a nice lunch in a clean dust free restuarant and then headed back to hotel via a few interesting dust ridden streets to await our 22.30 bus to arequipa...

ann + martin on

Loved the sand surfing and the buggy - so jealous, i (Ann) have always wanted to go to a desert... trip sounds fantastic. Martin and I have only just managed to look at it all together on the laptop with photos and video, but I have been following you on the Blackberry all week. Glad you seem to be having some great adventures and experiences. This is an amazing way of keeping up to date with what you are up to and what a fantastic record of your trip for you to keep! Keep it up and have lots more fun!
