First visit to an internet cafe so fingers crossed . Had a good flight and managed some sleep even though one chap decided that behind our seat was the best place to try to stop his baby screaming. So relatively little jet lag and so we've had two full days. Weren't really prepared for the heat and humidity. Most buildings and and hotel air conditioned and it really hits you when you go out into street but we are coping.

So abandoned our usual policy of walking everywhere and have taken the wonderful tube all over the place. Clean graffiti free efficient cheap (50p across town.)and easy to use  Emma even managed to help out a couple of confused American tourists. Done the waterfront lots of impressive high rise buildings. Also Chinatown the Botanical Gardens and Cable Car.

Plenty of places to eat had dinner outside yards from river with good views of lit up highrise skyline. Most things not too expensive (but beer nearly 6 pounds a pint!)

Will update when can.      Rob

Singapore has been everything I expected - hot, humid, clean, cosmopolitian and neon. The weirdest thing is seeing the Xmas decorations everywhere and hearing the Xmas tunes when it is 85 degrees outside. There are so many shopping malls, I wouldn't know where to start even if I had the funds or the space in the suitcase.

Packed in more than I thought we would despite the heat and jetlag and looking forward to getting to Perth now.

Off to Raffles now for afternoon tea - a civilised hour or two.  Emma x

Glad you're well
Glad to hear that you've arrived in good shape and that you're eating (better than Cath and Andrew in Hong Kong where they had colds and ate little!).

Singapore sounds interesting, I hope you have taken lots of photos.

Cath brought James into work today, and he was very well-behaved (at least in the office, I gather he was sick as he got out of the car), and as usual with babies in a workplace, a crowd quickly gathered around them, all saying how cute he is and asking who he looks like.

Hello Rob and Emma
Hi Rob and Emma
I went to stay with Grampy last weekend in Cornwall and had a lovely time. I slept all the way there and back so it was an easy journey for us all. I went to the fudge shop and met the man who sells fudge to Mummy.

Today Uncle Mike has been to see me but I have been a little bit sick. Oh well - all part of being a baby I suppose!

Mummy and Daddy send their love and said they hope you are enjoying Perth - they enjoyed it when they stayed there. Have you been to the Casino or Fremantle? I expect it is hot there!

Lots of love

Dave & Margaret
Hi Rob & Emma,
Just looked at your Christmas in Auckland entry, sounds great and very different to one you would have enjoyed here. Spent yesterday walking with your Mum & Dad, a lovely sunny dry day, unlike the Friday when it never stopped raining.
Your Dad spent the evening trying to impress the rest of us with the qualities of a bottle of English
pale red wine he bought at Ruscombe, none of us were very impressed.
Wishing you both a Happy New Year and dont rush back.
Dave & Margaret White.
