Anyway, we did decide to go back to Kyaukme and organised to go trekking with our new friend we met from the bus for a couple of days.  What a great guy Naing Naing was, and what a fantastic chance to really get off the beaten track. He spoke great English, knew all the people in all the villages, told us amazing stories about when he was in the local people's army against the Govt troops, and kept stopping on the way to show us his magic tricks. We had meals and slept in village homes, who were so welcoming. The kids were mouth open and stared at these two whities until we waved, and then you just couldn't stop them - waving & shouting hello in Burmese back at us. Naing Naing even invited us to his home for dinner after we returned from the treck.  All in all, an awesome experience.
