 Hola Amigos and Amigas!

I will officially be in Mazunte Mexico for a week tomorrow and I wish I came here earlier.  Very chill, very off the beaten path, and quite beautiful.  This is NON resort Mexico at itīs best.  I am staying in a cabaņa (which sounds romantic but really just means bad construction, no privacy, lots of bugs but AWESOME location) on the beach and it is costing me a whopping $12 a night.  The water here is amazingly strong and the sound of the waves at night are the stuff cdīs are made of for those that donīt know how to relax.  I am so close to the crashing waves (and they are always crashing) that sometimes the building shakes.  Very cool.  I am loving it.

There are several beaches along this stretch of coast with the most notable being Zipolite, about a 10 minute ride South of Mazunte.  Zipolite is known for itīs aging, naked, stoned, hippy population and the mood definitely reflects that.  I spent two days lounging in a hammock on the beach reading and taking in the sights and it was by far the best free entertainment I have had in months.  I particularly like one of the women who works at the beach bar that was hanging at because she frequently has a joint the size of a gorilla finger (thank you Katelyn) hanging from her mouth.  Ahhhhh....maybe in my next life.  Puerto Angel just a little further South was not really worth the trip for me.  Canīt swim there because the bay is pretty polluted.  But, I tolk the ride, saw it and was glad to return to Zipolite for more R & R.

I have also visited Ventanilla which is an interesting little community just 10 minutes North of Mazunte.  They are a sustainable little group of families that are giving tours into the lagoon (swamp really) to see the wildlife in the area.  I took it and enjoyed it immensely.  We saw crocodiles, iguanas, and an amazing number of new but large birds nesting.  The beach there is huge and undeveloped.  Quite nice.

San Agustinillo is sandwiched between Mazunte and Zipolite and is working hard at consciencous development with places for recycling plastic bottles (of which there seem to be millions), batteries and such.  Actually this whole stretch is trying to be more thoughtful about it all.  I am hopeful for them.  You know you are really off the beaten path when you have to travel 30 minutes on the back of a pick up truck to get to a cash machine.  This is as remote as I have been thus far and I love it.

I have run into another little ĻmedicalĻissue that I am having treated by a local healer of sorts.  I am never sure what to call these guys and gals.  I had some acupuncture yesterday and again today and am hopeful when I return on Tuesday for another visit that I will be better.  I am 99% sure I dislocated my rib(s) again during my surfing lesson.  Ah....the rib injury.....many years ago the thing that originally brought me to acupuncture and Pam Stratton.  I got a little juice with the needles, some reikki to follow it up and the pain is reduced but still pretty strong.  I am feeling a bit fortunate in that I have landed here to have this problem, and not elsewhere.  If I have to be stuck anywhere waiting out a physical recovery, this is the place to be doing it.  My healer dude, Aldo, is not the chiropractor I was looking for, but Iīll settle for his osteopathic and miscellaneous other skills for now.  Not much choice in the bush.  I am moving around okay, but really donīt feel like I want to throw a 50 pound backpack on me until the situation is remedied.

Not sure what is next...still.  Likely South America because the weather is more conducive to what I am looking for right now.  I have to do some research but first I need to find a computer that īCOMPUTESīa bit more rapidly.  I have no patience with these things to begin with so the hurry up and wait thing is killing me.  I had no idea how lucky I was prior to Mazunte with equipment.  It is likely there will not be many photos with this post because downloads are taking for ever.

Will post again when I can, have the patience, or have something more noteworthy.  Hope you are all well. Wish you were here.

Besos.
