Where I stayed
Morn Hill campsite, Winchester
Why we ended up in Winchester is a bit of a mystery - I think we were headed for Ted Johns, an old army mate of mine, used to race enduros with him, but he was out. Anyway Winchester is where we are!
Weather atrocious, so we took a trip to Southhampton 10 miles away to the " Go Outdoors" store - wow, it is like a toy shop for campers! Massive place, the size of a footie pitch
We got back to the campsite and turned the gas stove on, only to find out the cylinder was empty! This was a hell of a long wait for a cup of tea. Got that swapped on the campsite for a small extortionate fee and enjoyed our first cup of tea. Mark then decided to read the manual on the DVD player as we had found "Snatch" in the van, however he soon lost one of the discs down the console (never to be seen again). When he pulled down the flip down screen, the picture was upside down! We did not fancy standing on our heads all evening, but luckily we got it fixed so now we can watch half of "Snatch"!
Woke up this morning (29th) to a stunningly blue skies, sunny day. For those of you who are working, we woke up after 8am! It is the longest we have laid in so far as it actually takes a long time to adjust to not getting up at six every morning. Morn hill campsite is a lovely little campsite close to the motorway but you would never know. All you can hear are birds chirruping and all you can see are sloping green fields and countryside as far as the eye can see. Daisies abound.
The smell of bacon in a campervan on a sunny morning is just sublime!
