Although the flight was a lot shorter and better then the first flight, it still wasn't all that great. It was 45 minutes and there was a lot of turbulance. It was like riding a rollar coaster without knowing when the drops were going to happen. The only plus side was that we were served Swiss chocolate as our snack and given mini cans of Coke. It tasted somewhat different, but it was a better different, I think. When we landed in Germany, we got off the plane via stairs, rather than into a terminal. The fresh air was SO unbelievably nice! It was raining, which also felt nice considering that I hadn't showered in so long. The let us off at the airport and we went through customs, which was suprisingly quick. It took forever to get our bags though. After that we had to figure out when the German teachers were going to come get us. We arrived around 1:30 and there was a 2 and 1/2 hour bus ride back to Karlruhe were our families would pick us up. When we were at O'Hare, we had found out that the other group's flight had been delayed four hours, but we weren't sure what was going to happen once we got to Frankfurt. Well, it turns out we had to wait for them and it was 4 and 1/2 hours. So we waited and waited and waited. It was funny because there was a sign that said "Nichts dauert länger als Warten" which means "Nothing is longer than waiting". I took a picture, it seemed appropriate. There was a small bakery that we camped out at and played Uno. It got boring after a while. The main difference between American airports and European airports is that smoking is allowed. In Switzerland, there were enclosed smoking lounges, so you didn't have to smell it or breath it in. It was disgusting in Germany though because there were smokers everywhere. There were big ashtray things, but people didn't really use them. My eyes got all red and itching and I smelled so bad. When the other group finally landed, it took them about and hour to go through customs because there were more of them. We climbed on the bus, talked for about 10 minutes, and then we all crashed. We got to the school about two hours later at 8 o'clock.

Nice alliteration on the journal title. A+.
Sounds like you had an eventful trip... It must be almost midnight over there right now. Are you jetlagged? I find it funny that you were playing Uno in Frankfurt. Shouldn't you play Ein? Ha, ha. I know I'm lame. Okay see you later.
Isn't travel galmourous?
Poor Annie -- you now have your own travel stories from hell. BTW - I know that bakery in the Frankfort airport, Uncle Frank and I were stranded there also and spent time trying to find a smoke-free corner (as you found out -- there is none :) Have a great time - try everything once (even the fish)!
Smoking Stinks, Its not Smart. Don't Start!
Once I saw a really stupid person pretending to cough so hard that they fell over when they were standing near a person that was smoking and blowing the smoke in the faces of people that were standing close by.(I can only assume that the person was trying to make the smoker put out the cigarette) The smoker called that person a dumb twit and continued to blow smoke in their face. The person grumpily moved away after putting up a great fight. But it was worth a shot. Right?
